Biological Science (Teaching)

The Biological Science Teaching major was first offered to students as a bachelor program in 1984. This major is now recognized in Zhejiang province as a key characteristic and advantageous university major. It ranks among the top three biology majors in Zhejiang. The Biological Science Teaching major is also supported by Zhejiang Province Key Laboratory of Water Environment and Marine Biological Resources Protection and Zhejiang Province Key Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Biology. The program is taught both in the form of lectures and experiments. There will also be field trips where students are expected to participate in fieldwork. In addition, an internship where students are required to undergo a teaching training program is an essential component of the study program. This major is currently not available to international students.

 

Program Objective

To nurture outstanding teachers in biology education/excellent teachers in science education as well as to cultivate biological sciences research and management personnel/senior specialists in applied science.

 

Core Course

The core of the Biological Science Teaching curriculum covers botany, zoology, cell biology, biochemistry, plant physiology, animal physiology, microbiology, genetics, ecology, molecular biology, secondary school biology teaching theory, and biology classroom teaching skills training.

 

Prerequisite

Potential applicants need to have a high school graduate certificate.

 

Credit

A minimum of 172 credits are required for graduation.
