The Environmental Engineering major was first introduced in 2000 under the name of Environmental Science. In 2009, it was awarded the prestige of key discipline at the university level. It is supported by resources which include the National Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Urban Water Pollution Ecological Management Technology, Zhejiang Provincial Engineering Laboratory of Urban Water Pollution Ecological Management Technology, and Wenzhou Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Environmental Science and Engineering. The Environmental Engineering major is another bachelor's program that is offered to both domestic and international students.

Program Objective

The objective of the program is to cultivate talents in engineering and technology related to the management of the environment, with the cultivation of innovative spirit, entrepreneurial ability, and social responsibility being the core values. It aims to equip students with relevant knowledge of waste materials (solid, liquid, and gas) and the control and prevention of their pollution. Students will also learn about the process of research design and development, equipment related to pollution prevention, and control engineering to enable them to carry out work relating to design, operation, management, and development in the environmental engineering profession and related fields.

Core Course

The core of the Environmental Engineering curriculum covers a range of disciplines, including water pollution control engineering, air pollution control engineering, solid waste treatment and disposal, physical pollution control engineering, environmental assessment, environmental monitoring, environmental planning, and mapping techniques.

Prerequisite

Potential applicants need to have a high school graduate certificate. For international students,  an equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate certificate is required. Applicants with a strong background in science subjects will be given more preferences, but those with little or no background in science subjects will also be considered based on their previous academic performance.

Credit

Students require a minimum of 172 credits (local students) or 140 credits (international students) to graduate.
